Forgiveness Heals, Hate Steals

Forgiveness is not for them, it is for you.

As I’m sitting here chatting with God this morning, I’m reminded of how much better life feels when forgiveness lives in my heart. For myself and for others. Life can be rough. We don’t always treat others as good as we could and we don’t always get treated perfectly either. Forgiveness always leaves my heart wide open to love myself and others. As I do my morning meditation I always ask this sweet little heart of mine what it needs. I’ve come to realize I’m the only one who can truly give it what it desires. Sometimes it just wants to be heard, other times it wants to go for an adventure - maybe a drive, sometimes it wants to go visit a loved one and others it just wants to stay in bed longer.

I cherish this forgiveness prayer. It has set my heart free many days in many ways. It’s ok not to “get out” of others what we desire. Sometimes they just don’t have it to give. Maybe they’re tending to their own heart too.

The Forgiveness Prayer:

"If I have harmed anyone in any way either knowingly or unknowingly through my own confusions, I ask their forgiveness.

If anyone has harmed me in any way either knowingly or unknowingly through their own confusions, I forgive them.

And if there is a situation I am not yet ready to forgive, I forgive myself for that.

For all the ways that I harm myself, negate, doubt, belittle myself, judge or be unkind to myself through my own confusions, I forgive myself."

"And if there is a situation I am not yet ready to forgive, I forgive myself for that." This statement was really powerful for me. In my heart, I know forgiveness leads to freedom, but there are some situations that I do not know how to forgive and it tears at me. I hurt for those who have been hurt, and I struggle with forgiveness for those who caused the hurt. This message is gold! Thank you!
