Let Go and Let God

Letting go is having faith and trust in God's perfect timing.

Letting go of the things that are near and dear to our hearts is never easy. We cling to ideas, dreams, outcomes, and people; sometimes past their expiration point. Letting go doesn’t mean we still don’t desire what is in our heart it just means we aren’t going to let it control us any longer and instead give it over to God for His timing. If something is meant to leave your life, let it. This is part of trusting in God’s direction for your life.

As I look back over my life I am reminded of times when I wanted something so badly only to find I was missing out on exactly what God had put right in front of me. Sometimes what I wanted so desperately was standing in the way of something so much better.

I have been starting my day with the Serenity Prayer lately. Before I let my feet hit the floor I take a few minutes to pray over my day, that I may live in His will. Taking each day at a time really helps me stay present. Being present allows us to enjoy what is in our life right now.

Below is the full version of the Serenity Prayer. May it bring you peace.

God, grant me the Serenity To accept the things I cannot change... Courage to change the things I can, And Wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time, Enjoying one moment at a time, Accepting hardship as the pathway to peace. Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, Not as I would have it. Trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His will. That I may be reasonably happy in this life, And supremely happy with Him forever in the next.

Amen.

Great post! Something I need constant reminding .... but oh so true. I always feels like a weight has been lifted when I just let go and enjoy the ride for what it is. ❤️
